    November News

During the month of November we will begin our own harvesting project. The children will paint our new garden planters, plant and harvest lettuce, kale, herbs, broccoli, peas, and more. After the harvest, the children will have the opportunity to taste the fall vegetables they grew. Yum Yum!

Stay tuned for pictures of our harvest project!

Welcome to Un Mundo de Amigos

    Un Mundo de Amigos Website

Construction of our website is now complete

Welcome to the new and improved Un Mundo de Amigos website!  Thank you to Persius Creative Agency for your hard work and commitment to making our website appealing and informative.  We are committed to serving the Long Beach Community with high quality preschool education.  Please take a few moments to browse the site and see what it has to offer.  Our Enrollment page provides parents with an opportunity to set up an enrollment appointment via email.  Our yearly calendar of events can be found under the Resources tab.  Feel free to provide us with feedback regarding the website and/or our services via the Contact page.  We look forward to hearing from you!

Summer flew by!  I hope that you all enjoyed your time off.  We are looking forward to a year filled with learning, excitement, and laughter!  Transitioning into a new school can be difficult for both parents and children alike.  Here are some suggestions to help with the transition:

-Visit the school:  Meeting their teacher, locating their classroom, and allowing them to ask questions will help ease your child’s anxiety.

-Read books about preschool.  You can find a variety of books about preschool at your public library.  Talk about the story and how the characters are feeling.  Ask your child how he/she is feeling.  For a list of recommended preschool books visit the Early Learning Public Library Partnership.

-Be positive about the preschool experience.  If you are nervous, your child is more likely to be nervous.  If you are excited, your child is more likely to be excited!  Children pick up on the feelings of the trusted adults in their life.

-Start school time routines such as “school day” bedtime, making lunches at night, and setting out clothes for the next day.  Your goal is to provide consistency.  Children tend to feel safer and more comfortable when they know what to expect next.

    The first day of school:

-Wake up early so that you and your child are not rushing.  Being late on the first day will cause anxiety.

-Make your child a good breakfast.

-Review the routine.  Talk about what your child will do at preschool.

-Plan to stay for a while.  Staying for 5-15 minutes may help ease the transition.  Together, the two of you can explore the classroom, talk to the teachers and other children, and play with a few toys.

-Resist the rescue.  Try to resist the urge to run back into the classroom if you hear your child crying.  Although this may be difficult, it will only provide your child with the sense that they are only okay if you are there.  Feel free to call the school later to check-in.  We will call you if your child does not integrate into the activities and settle down.

-Contact us should you have any questions or concerns.

The Un Mundo de Amigos team is excited to get to know you and your family!!!
