    Laurie Petersen

    Laurie founded Un Mundo de Amigos Preschool in 2007. Laurie has held key management positions with high profile and not-for-profit organizations for over 25 years and has over 20 years experience as a board member of not-for-profit organizations including Antioch University Los Angeles, However, Laurie wanted to do more. Ten years ago she focused her time and skills to providing a free school for 4 year olds in Long Beach, California through the design and construction of a preschool providing over 140 spaces in a high need area. Un Mundo de Amigos meets Laurie’s commitment to social justice, underserved communities and education. Laurie has a BA in Business Administration and a Master’s in Business Administration from Pepperdine University.


    Lindsey Evans

    Lindsey has been in the Early Childhood Education field for over 14 years. She worked with children Pre-K to 8th grade at Long Beach Unified School District for 13 years and taught Reading and Study Skills at Fullerton College for 5 years. Lindsey has a Master’s degree in Education, with a Reading Specialization, and a 2nd Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education. Lindsey continues to learn and gain knowledge about Early Childhood Education by being involved in a number of organizations and committees, including Beach Cities for the Education of Young Children and BEST Conference.


    Un Mundo de Amigos Preschool Lead Teachers hold a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, as well as a Site Supervisor Permit, issued through the State of California. Our Teachers have 24 or more units in Early Childhood Education, as well as a Child Development Teacher Permit. We employ highly qualified, CPR and First Aid certified teachers and have a 1:8 ratio. All employees go through a thorough background check and receive clearance, at the state and federal level, to work with children.
